# API Release - v2.4.0

> OAuth 2.0 authentication, Cars Recalls API, Cars Cached Images API, and a deprecation notice for the source and dealer_id search parameters.

## New features

1. API Security - OAuth 2.0 : New API authentication method - OAuth 2.0, that will let you integrate your application with API in less secure environments without having to worry about API key compromise New API proxy (Base path - /oauth) that authenticates user application using an OAuth 2.0 token. Following are the flows or steps to follow -
a) Generate an access token in exchange for combination of-
- API Key
- Client Secret (available in developer portal along with API key)
b) Call the API (at different base path - /oauth) using this access_token in Authorization header
c) Delete the access_token if it is no longer required and has not already expired
2. Cars Recalls API - Cars Recall lookup by VIN - Now available on a new endpoint - /v2/car/recall/{{vin}}
MarketCheck brings you recall lookup by VIN for about 38 car manufacturers via a single endpoint
3. Cars Cached Images API - Cached photos of used cars - Now available on a new endpoint - /v2/image/cache/car/{{listingID}}/{{imageID}}
Reliable alternative to Dealer's own photo links (which expire or change from time to time), access the cached image of a car from the moment Marketcheck crawled the site, that are guaranteed to be available till a listing is active

## Other changes

Important Deprecation Notice:
Last week we released a special purpose endpoint called Car Dealer Active Inventory. It is meant to serve entire dealer active inventory for syndication purposes. Due to this we are going to remove inventory search/filter by source and dealer_id parameters in the Inventory Search API by 31st Oct 2020. You are advised to move over to the new endpoint in case you pull dealer's active inventory by source or dealer_id parameters.
