Introduction

MarketCheck Data Feeds provide access to various automotive datasets, including vehicle inventory, incentives, and specifications. Learn how to subscribe and utilize these feeds effectively.

MarketCheck Data Feeds offer structured access to a variety of automotive datasets, enabling businesses and developers to integrate comprehensive vehicle data into their applications. These feeds include real-time inventory listings, manufacturer incentives, detailed vehicle specifications, and more.

Prerequisites

Before learning about MarketCheck Data Feeds, please read through following guides explaining different datasets:

How to Subscribe

To subscribe to MarketCheck Data Feeds, users must contact our sales team at sales@marketcheck.com. The data feeds do not have a self-service signup process and require approval from MarketCheck with an agreement in place.

Data feeds come with different terms and conditions than the API, which users must agree to before accessing the data.

Historical v/s Active Data Feeds

There are two primary types of data feeds available:

  1. Historical Data Feed: This feed is typically provided once at the start of the subscription and contains the complete dataset up to that point. Access requires approval from MarketCheck and comes with different terms and conditions, often at a higher cost due to the complexity and size of the data.
  2. Active Data Feed: This feed is sent daily (or at predefined intervals) and contains live data that users can access and utilize in their applications. While still large, active data feeds are more manageable with the right infrastructure.

When setting up historical data feed sharing, it is usually done through a one-time transfer of the entire dataset, which can be substantial. Users must ensure they have the necessary infrastructure to handle this data, and MarketCheck provides technical assistance to help with ingestion and processing.

Historical data feeds are available for certain datasets and market segments only. Please see below for details.

Datasets and Data Feeds

MarketCheck provides access to following datasets through multiple data feeds:

Vehicle Inventory Dataset

The largest and most comprehensive dataset available, covering various geographies and market segments. It includes detailed listings of vehicles from dealers, private parties, and auctions.

Data Feed Variants

Historical

  • Historical data feeds for inventory dataset are typically provided at vertical level for a region
  • It includes all market segments within that vertical like US Cars historical feed would include new, used, auction, and private party segments
  • See Inventory Dataset Overview guide to know more about timeline and other details

Active

  • Active data feeds for inventory dataset are typically provided at segment level, like US Used Cars, US New Cars, etc.
  • These feeds contain only the specific segment data for that region
  • Depending on availability of attribution and NeoVIN decoder data, there are 3 variants of active data feeds:
    • Full Feed: Includes all available data for the segment, including duplicate listings of same vehicle from different dealers/sources
    • Attributed Feed: Includes only the unique listings for the segment, with attribution to the dealer that has physical possession of the vehicle
    • Combined Feed: Includes enhanced NeoVIN data alongside the inventory data. Inventory data can either be included in full or attributed form

NeoVIN Dataset

The NeoVIN dataset provides detailed information about vehicle specifications, features, and configurations. It serves as a VIN decoder, helping users decode VINs to understand vehicle attributes.

Data Feed Variants

Historical

  • In case of NeoVIN dataset, historical feed is essential to get complete vehicle specifications and features over time
  • So typically, for a NeoVIN subscription, historical feed is sent first at the beginning of the subscription period
  • It includes all available VINs and their associated specification data at the time of the feed
  • After the initial historical feed, subsequent updates via daily active feeds may include only changes or new VINs

Active

  • Active data feeds for NeoVIN dataset are incremental updates that provide the latest vehicle specifications and features.
  • These updates may include new VINs, changes to existing VINs, or additional data points that were not included in the historical feed.

Often NeoVIN data is used in conjunction with the Vehicle Inventory Dataset to provide comprehensive vehicle details. These variants of data feeds are called Combined Feeds.

Incentives Dataset

This dataset contains information about manufacturer incentives and promotions available for vehicles. It helps users understand current market conditions and available deals.

Data Feed Variants

In case of incentives dataset, historical feed is not available, so active data feeds are the primary source of information.

There are 2 variants of active data feeds:

  1. Full Feed: Includes all available offers from all crawled zip codes, this leads to duplication as same offers are available for many zip codes.
  2. Unique Feed: Includes only the unique offers across entire national market, eliminating duplicates.
